I have a £120 budget and am looking for a good quality angle grinder. I'd really appreciate your suggestions. Thank you

4 1/2 would suit me. The 9" is way too big for what I need.

I will have a look at the links. Much thanks

Corded or cordless? There is no need to spend £120 on corded. Most of the usual brands will be well under that. I quite like Hitachi grinders but you won't go far wrong with makita, dewalt, Bosch blue, etc. If cordless then go for whatever system you use so you have extra batteries. The makita lxt brushless is very good and is pretty well priced bare.

Depending on the work you're doing - buy two. You can save loads of time by not having to change discs so regularly. One with a slitter, the other with a grinder etc. Also, really handy to fit them with a quality rubber cable that's much longer than the standard short thing they generally come fixed with.

I think I will stick to just the one. I don't have the need for two and won't me doing that much on it. I want corded. How do I change the cord? Also, I will be cutting metal, polishing old spades and garden tools that are rusty general garden tools that need debris removing etc etc etc. What discs would you recommend? I'd like half decent ones. Thanks a million guys. I need to do some jobs to keep myself sane.

I recently replaced my trusty Bosch (carried on using it after brushes wore out and damaged the armature) with a nice Bosch GWS 9-115, 900w professional grinder. £45 on Amazon, but I think they made a mistake with the price. It comes with a 4m cable. If you don't have one, get a Milwaukee quick release nut (about £7.50) - a lot simpler and cheaper and smaller than the Bosch SDS clic ones.

you can use a wire wheel to burnish off rust, but I think they are a bit dangerous as fragments of the wire can spin off at high speed and cause a nasty injry, especially to the face or eyes.

If you want to remove rust from anything of value or history, it can be done by electrolysis without causing additional wear or damage.

Thanks so much, your advice is greatly appreciated. I think I am going to buy the Hikoki, a single one. It seems like it has good reviews and it is fairly cheap. Thanks again, much obliged to you all. Stay safe

A few years ago I purchased a 4.5" Makita for about £60. The flex was less than 2m. How much would an extra metre or two cost them, 50p-£1 ?

I have just bought a new Bosch 125mm cordless grinder and it has the new X lock blade system, it takes seconds with no tools needed to change the blade. I suggest looking at a corded version of that locking system.
