Morning,
Rudely awoken to a shower that turned itself on. I can't turn it off.
It's an Aqualisa mixer as pictured below.
I can't find any isolators anywhere in the vacinity. The only way to stop it was to turn the stopcock off. Likely there are isolators in the wall behind it? It is an original unit fitted by the house builder (Barrats) in 2004. It's in an en-suite that is hardly used. However in the last few weeks, the kids have made us of it.

Tried home emergency cover, however that don't cover the shower, despite protestations it's technically the isolation of it, not the shower itself that's the issue. In the meantime the water supply to the house is off.

Awaiting a plumber calling back, but if I can just isolate it, we will be fine. Any thoughts?

Is there easier access in from the wall behind? Only other alternative is to isolate and then take the shower off the wall, there may be isolation screws in at the valve itself.

Unscrew the head from the hose or the entire hose and replace it with a fitting, perhaps 1/2" bsp stop end. If you're unlucky and the supply is not balanced, it'll fill the head-tank with cold water. (Back feeding the DHW cylinder from the cold supply). This is if NRV(s) in the mixer have failed and the cold is from a supply other than the same gravity fed tank.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately the wall behind is our bedroom :(
I tried to dismantle the thermostatic unit, but when undoing the screws, I could hear water pressure behind it - which will be the hot water feed. I turned that off in the airing cupboard. Still cant' see any valves in the housing to stop anything.

Ah... I probably have some sort of stop, in the garage.. but I could cause more problems? I'm guessing that would back up and then exit the house out of the overflow from the water tank in the loft?!

I think I'll get someone to come and fit some isolators, to give me future flexibility/emergency stop . I'll then look into replacing the shower.

Plumber is on his way - thankfully.

Cheers for both of your replies.
