British made ventilators already in use

The issue about these cpap machines is that they are AGPs - aerosol generating procedure which means it basically sprays aerosols (containing the virus) all over the place. So you need staff in full PPE equipment.

Could be worse i see Africa have 3 ventilators for a population of FIVE million, and that's before someone steals at least one of them to make a quick bit of cash.

What annoyed me, was a lot of the negative responses from certain firms and industry associations about "Can't do this, can't get that part, wont be ale to make them for x weeks". Yes that's the attitude that built an empire and got us through a few wars.

But those firms that said "Yes, we'll have a go" .... and did so, brought a little lump to my cynical throat. Likewise to the firms shifting production to hand gels and medical clothing supplies. Very inspiring.

the mayor of new york.
OMG what a whiny, whinging defeatist.

All he does is play the victim and come out with a load of negative crap. He's the worst type of person you'd want in charge in a crisis.

But the use of the phrase prompted criticism of the way the Government has communicated its plans to the public.

Speaking at a White House press conference, Mr Trump said: "A lot of people were saying: 'Let's just ride it out'.

"This is not to be ridden out because then you would have been looking at potentially 2.2 million people [dying in the US] or more… in a relatively short period of time.

"If you remember, they were looking at that concept - I guess it's a concept if you don't mind death, a lot of death - but they were looking at that in the UK, remember.

"All of sudden they went hard the other way because they started seeing things that weren't good. They put themselves in a little bit of a problem."

The US president added: "They have a name for it, but we won't even go by the name - it would have been very catastrophic I think if that would have happened."

People in a crisis - Trump and Pence - the latter doesn't even believe in science, and the former said the disease would disappear like a miracle. HALLELUJAH A MIRACLE! FFS.

Give me Cuomo (Governor of NY) over that pair of dangerous God bothering useless flat-earth idiots any day.

But its not a choice situation. New Yorkers are stuck with the whinger. Even our very own Khant has kept relatively quiet, calm and positive.

I hope you're not a Cuomo flapper when the roof timber delivery is late and you don't have enough nails. :cautious:

In your scenario isn't he trying to find timbers despite head office saying 'dont worry about it, you don't need them, it seems like far too many for a job that size'?

No in my scenario he's running around the front garden, waving his arms like a dervish, frantically pulling on his hair out and shouting "Why me, OH WHY ME, what am I going to do, the timbers, the nails, the JOB it's all hopeless, we're all going to die, DIE I TELL YOU, DIEEEEEEEE"

Whereas his foreman comes up and says "Hang on Nose, have a Snickers, here's what we are going to do."

What annoys me is this government turned down opportunities to buy ventilators, tests, PPE many weeks earlier.

What annoys me is this government is lying about delivering these things.

If the government had started with a positive attitude, it wouldnt be in a mess now.

Who's the foreman in this scenario?

It's not Trump as his response has been to say the ventilators aren't needed and it's the States jobs to sort PPE and not his.
