Covid-19 discussion

Never let anyone say I got in the way of nitpicking. But on the 'normal life' thing I can contribute. I got a diagnosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis after some niggling pain kept building up. I went from a very active person to having crippling pain doing a weekly shop. Meds have brought it under control and I now live a 'normal' life.

I can't run anymore, my grip is pathetic so I can't sail or climb, i get sick easily, I have to take so many pills sometimes I have to do two batches or the urge to chew them is overpowering. It has very little in common with my pre-illness life, it still feels wrong. But it's within the margin of 'Normal'. It's not normal to run a Marathon, now I'm normal. It's not normal to do endurance hiking events, now I'm normal. Normal can be pretty ****.

But on the plus side, I can now pop to the local shops to get hand soap and toilet roll... Oh, hang on a second!

That doesn't sound great. In or nearing retirement?

I note that the number of deaths from covid (~2,000) has just passed the annual death toll of road traffic accidents and, coincidentally, the total number of cases of covid is about the same as the annual number of serious injuries (~29,000) from RTAs from which I assume people never fully recover.

I appreciate covid hasn't ended yet.

Also, I note that, according to the tables, the UK has not had a recovery from covid for about a week - still only 135.

Seems odd.

The "lockdown" will surely cause a reduction in the number of road deaths even if it has no effect on the virus. Aren't the streets wonderful at he moment? My forlorn hope is that somebody up there sees this and takes a serious look at reducing the number of people allowed to drive and the number of vehicles allowed on the roads.

And "normal" at 50 is different to normal at "75"

And air planes in the skies.
But its wishful thinking.

Long way from over. Still recession and war to come.
And remember, unless Boris starts prepping for the latter two now, galahad moaners and co will be on here pontificating about how he swans about dithering and delaying doing nothing.

Only 5 a day though Andy so minuscule in the grand scheme of things. :( Still, bloody marvellous if you were to be one of those 5. (y)

Just heard last night, my Brother in Law and his partner have it plus our niece's partner (a teacher) has it and our niece has asthma - she can’t even go back to her parents while he isolates in case she has it as her father has severe asthma. Very worrying.

Well off to work :)

My neighbours are in isolation they are not happy

Empty prop next door has the builders in
Using a jack hammer

Hah! Mid thirties.
Bud real sorry to read this :( fitness is the main part of my mental fitness and i gather from what you say used to be an important part of your routine too. Hope you've found some steady ground now.

Ok fck sake i see they are finally looking at masks, been harping on about this for a while now, until we dont know how much is spreading via Aerosol etc then everyone who has masks should be wearing them, to help contain and or hope minimise inhalation.
I can't help but feel they're resisted due to people buying up masks...which has already happened. Government says staff are wearing them due to dealing with Covid19 patients. FFS we should assume everyone has covid19 until we know.
Wear your mask out.
