Hi

I have been insulating the boiler room and bashed a copper pipe coming from the boiler. I think it's the return pipe to the boiler. It's oil fired condensing boiler s plan plus.
I have a torch and solder Will I still need to drain while system down to empty water out to fix or is there another way with it being the return pipe?

Thanks

Needs draining, you can't solder pipes with water in them

You'll need to drain the pipe completely or it wont solder.

Showing a picture of the joint / position may be helpful. And of course you will need flux as well as torch & solder !!
