covid 19 home testing

Was just listening to the BBC, like a lot of people I'd like to take a home covid 19 test, as I have a suspicion I might have had it, but obviously not sure.

It seems however that the home test kits the govt have been testing have failed to demonstrate acceptable efficacy?

Anyone else heard similar?

Reading it depends on the source. Like the kits delivered by Ocado sourced from China
Whereas the kits from boots amazon seem ok (antibody). I take it you are referring to anti gen.

I guess the home kits are antibody tests, i.e. whether or not you've had it as opposed to whether you've got it.

I'm still hoping to go sailing in the med, starting end of June. I usually spend a few months there. I think I'll try and get hold of the anti-body test a bit nearer the time for everyone aboard. If we've had it, we can be a little more confident of the risks.

I'm not ordering one now though as I think there are other people with higher priorities.

Does it matter? If you've had it you are immune (so it would seem from the hype). If you haven't had it you are doomed (so it would seem from the hype). Either way you cannot go out away from your house other than to perform some absolutely neccessary excursions until BOJO says so.

Assuming at some point these restrictions will be lifted.

That's if flights are back and running by then. I hope you can get away, sounds really what we all need right now!

Other half & his dad has a fishing holiday booked for last week of June/beginning July in the UK. That looks like it's going to be cancelled.

Indeed - no flights = no go. But I either use the boat or leave it sitting there.

There is talk of an antibody passport.

If that happens, it maybe the case that such a passport is required to go on an aircraft.

An official passport would only be issued by an official body, which would rule out home testing

In that case, it will never happen! As you keep saying - they're not exactly on the ball....

Will it be a blue one?
