I need to lay around 20 bricks and do some basic repointing. Never done either before to be honest so to make things easier was looking at the above mentioned products as opposed to making my own mix.

Does anyone have any experience with these products and how would you rate them?

the current mortar that is on the bricks is a dark grey so not sure how different it will look to these mortar mixes.

Thanks.

Builders tend to mix their own gear - does that answer your question?

You may be in luck. I've a feeling theses bags of rubbish mortar do end up with a grey finish.

Hi Diyer here, I used this stuff for my first bricklaying attempts last summer. It dries to a lightish gray.

The bricks are still together a year later. Out of a few ready mixes I found I got the best result with the Hanson's one (red and black bag from wickes). The blue circle one always seemed to knock up a bit sloppy but maybe that was my complete inexperience.

Fully echo what the pro's are saying making your own is much nicer to work with (and several x cheaper by my reckoning).

Good luck with your bricklaying.
