I've got a fantasia ceiling fan/light in my conservatory, which hasn't worked since the day I moved in. I have finally got round to looking into it, and not sure how to go about testing it.
These contraptions have a remote receiver mounted in the ceiling ball. I am fairly sure the remote is knackered as the red light on it never lights up, even with a brand new battery. However, I don't particularly want to buy a new remote (70 sheets!) to find out that there are other faults.
I can check the power is entering the remote receiver from the mains, but past that I am not sure how to verify whether the receiver is faulty. Anyone got any ideas how I might be able to turn it 'on' without a working remote?
Is there any way I can wire the fan directly onto the mains supply without going via the remote receiver? The fan/light expects 3 connections: fan live, fan neutral, and 'light supply'. I am not sure how the light works with only 1 core, but there you go.
