Hello folks,

I've recently got myself a Meterk 4.5 inch grinder from Amazon which I plan to use to cut away some rusted bolts in the garage walls. I already have safety glasses but I don't feel safe using it until I've got an appropriate face shield.

Any recommendations out there?

Stay well and safe,
P

Mine was from screwfix as far as I remember, but now isn't really a good time me to buy one considering the shortages.
Face shields are far more pleasant to work with compared to googles.

At the moment its not so much a case of asking for recommendations on type of face mask - more like "where the heck can I get one" ???

And ear defenders, you'll need those too. Therefore an {eye} mask that you can wear with ear defenders. Googles (vented) are better for this as the bands are elastic and so can reach around the cans, the bands on visors are rigid.

Buy quality PPE and cutting discs.

Hey @Nozzle. Can you recommend any quality PPE? Ear defenders already got!

I have the evolution APF 10. £239 ex vat. From axminster tools.
Out of stock at the moment.
Very comfortable to wear. No sweating or steaming up.
Comes with a single battery which lasts about 10 hours and a filter air flow tester.
I ordered the clear shield and a packet of shield clear visors and the JSP muffs to suit this shield as extras.
Use it for asbestos and composite panel cutting and grinding.
A lot cheaper than the JSP APF40 powercap and doesn't require training or face to face consultation before they sell you the unit..
The JSP APF40 though will stop a 6mm ball bearing travelling at 270mph.
The 3M kit is nice but expensive also. Like the Versaflow M-306.
But then you need the air flow kit. The APF 10 is an all in one unit.
