Hi all first post

Sorry about the ultra beginner topic.

I've bought a new build house but I can't open the loft and the house builder can't really help due to covid 19.

I believe the loft hatch is a manthorpe.

I try pulling it in the direction seemly indicated by the little arrow moulding next to the hexagon and nothing happens. I'm trying to apply pressure but its hard to get leverage on a stepladder.

Any tips or suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Put a 6" nail through the hatch and never open it. If anything goes into a loft it's because it's never going to be used again :)

I've tried them. They were my first port of call. All I leaned is that I think I'm trying to pull it the right way.

Anyone have any experience with manthorpe hatches?

And what did you do as it might help others out in the future

You forgot about Christmas decorations! They also go in the loft.
