Bathroom Extractor

We have a 6" Manrose 12 volt fan in our bathroom fed from a humidistat Selv unit. The transformer went open circuit years ago. Trying to sort things out at home, one option is to scrap the entire lot and start again.

Could easily make that a 4". So, what's the best option, best fan with humidistat that we can buy? Those Air Flow Icons look nice, Xpelair also do some silent ones. So what can you recommend? Thanks.

Icon is my go to choice. But I have never found a humidistat that’s works reliably (or often at all) in the UK.
The background humidity level is so soggy that you have the choice of a fan that runs all the time, or doesn’t run at all. I’ve spent many hours trying to adjust these bloomin things in client’s bathrooms. Fit a timer fan off the lights, or a PIR detector, or trigger from a flow switch on the hot water pipe. At least that will work.

Our last one worked well actually. As expected, ran non stop for the first few days, but levelled out after a few weeks.

I don't like timers off the lights as the fan doesn't need to extract the light

which is why I like the humidistat, as it extracts when it needs.

Okey dokey. Each to his own. But the Icon plus a humidistat module is a good choice.
I’d fit an over ride switch too. Icon’s humid module has a pullcord too.

I would use a 240V manrose humidity one (all in one unit).

They take a lot of adjustment to get right, but when that's your own home its ok

Yeah wasn't impressed that the remote transformer didn't last very long. Probably because it was rated bang on to what the fan was, so maybe no space for inrush etc. I can put a 240v fan in as it's in a suitable zone.

From what I've read, they basically have a slow trickle, which boosts according to humidity.
