Update on newbie doing Drive belt progress, need further help please

Yes one in video is same engine

thank you friend.
I assume that must be the problem as I did not actually slot the tensioner onto the engine I just tightened the bolt as tight as I could and I did not notice the lug at the back, the belt still releases when I go clockwise but the belt is very slack could that be because the tensioner is not sitting slush with the engine there is a gap behind the tensioner because the tensioner is not flush with the engine I wasn't sure if that was normal or not .

Thank you, I did take notice of what you said but when you said that I thought you might have meant that I may have tightened it down on an angle or not tight enough or something, I hadn't thoguht you may have meant making sure it was flush with the negine and slotted in properly with the lug at the back, thansk again for the help , I'm hopnig the new tensioner will finally be here tomorrow I'll update !!

Hi
I took tensioner off today and I noticed there in no lug at the back of it as shown in the video with the car of the same engine
it looks flat on the back of this one I don't see anything on it that would slot into anything on the engine to make it sit flush. Yet on the video the ternsioner hasa lug that slots into the engine and the tensioner fits flush

thanks

I’m starting to lose the will to live!

Hi
I just went out to look and although it looks like there is something there in the picture there really isn't on the car. There is nothing to align it up with I looked it over thoroughly I don't know how that photo is so deceiving.
I have been out again just now with a very bright light and the smallest allen key I could find and felt all around it inside as well there is nothing that actually looks like that on there.

I wonder if he crushed the lug flat when tightening the tensioner onto the block?
John :)

Hi
I don't think so as I didn't hear anything crush and it looks quite a solid piece. on the back of the ternsioner there is definitely a hole for a lug which this tensioner has not got but the new one might.
Also looking at the back of this tensioner the spring looks to be protruding, is this normal ?

Looks like the lug is a bit bent.
On your photo of engine block where you have put arrow lug should sit at 9 o clock position

hi, do you mean the lug on the car or on the tensioner ?
This tensioner doesn't have a lug, it is more of a metal stick out tab thing, I looked at some other's online and on the YouTube and they have a Lug/dowel thing on the back that slots in onto the engine but this one on this tensioner does not. On my car there is a hole for a lug/dowel so hopefully the new tensioner will have a lug on it. It still hasn't arrived atfter a week I have had many parcels disappear via royal mail over recent months I mgiht cancle this order and buy from euro car parts.

Tensioner whether it be a lug or dowel is down to different manufacturers.

Thank you so much
Lug/dowel are the same thing, this one has the metal tab on it. Ideally the new one with have the dowel lug on the back so it will slot in

as you cansee on photo it has nowhere to slot in the tensioner, unlike the other ones which have the lug/dowel
