Hello,

We had a leak inside the boiler (now fixed) but since then the boiler will not fire up.

The boiler fan will start but I do not hear the normal whoosh noise I would expect.

I took the red plastic cover from the burner and there is no visible sign of water ingress, so I am not sure what to do next - apart from calling a heating engineer.

Does the burner go to lockout? If not, I would suggest that the control box has been damaged by the water leak. It may also be worth checking that the leak has not shorted out the circuitry in the control box base.
 
Thank you @oilhead Yes, it goes to lockout - assuming that it is the red light button coming on on front of burner. If I press it, it tries to start but just the fan runs for a few seconds then stops.
 
Are you getting power to the oil pump solenoid? When you try to start it, does the blast tube get wet with oil?
The fault finding chart for this ecoflam burner is quite easy to follow.

the blast tube is what I’d look at if it’s not wet it’s either the coil or maybe the fuel pump. Bob
 
Yes, the blast tube is wet with oil. I took the burner out, wiped it.. put it back.. tried to start boiler.. took it out once more and was wet. So, I am confident oil gets thru.

I have also cleaned the photocell which had a bit of soot on it.

I also removed solenoid from oil pump and tried to start boiler with burner removed to see if there was a spark.. couldn't see one. I assume spark would still be seen even if no oil was getting pumped?

If no spark, then it will either be failed transformer, faulty photocell or faulty control box.
With the burner removed, isolate the power, remove the control box, insert a link between the live terminal on the base and the transformer and switch on power. If you get a spark, isolate, refit the control box, unplug the photocell and the solenoid coil switch power back on and see if you now get a spark. If you do, replace p/cell, if you don't, looks like control box.
 
Okay, I have just picked up and replaced the photocell and controlbox. Symptoms same as before.

Do you have any more suggestions, please?

Oh dear, sorry @oilhead in my haste, I failed to read your message correctly. I did not try the transformer but will do so tomorrow.
 
Should have added I assume you've checked the integrity of the electrodes and leads
 
I was just coming on to say check electrode leads and the electrodes themselves. Bob
 
I checked and they look right to me; I can't see and splits or kinks. I cleaned the electrodes as they were sooty.
