I’ve got a warning light saying “check anti pollution system” and “check injection system”. Mainly the pollution one. Its under warranty but Vauxhall have said if its not covered on the warranty they want £99 to diagnose it. There’s no information about these warnings in the manual and vauxhall can’t/won’t give info over the phone. Anyone know what the problem could be and is it covered on a standard warranty? Cheers for any advice.

I guess the diesel particulate filter is blocking up, and needs a good fast run to allow it to regenerate.....have you been doing short runs, frequent stop starts etc recently?
Vauxhall need a slap if they want to charge you for a diagnostic....Who the hell do they think they are?
John :)

Get a cheap code reader and have a look yourself, there are some phone apps that will do this but you need the Bluetooth dongle to plug into the obd port usually about £15 on Amazon.
Torque pro is one app I’ve seen but not used myself.

I travel about 50 miles a day to work, most of it motorway. I’ve screwed it to try and get any blockages out, hasn’t worked. The £99 is bugging me because i asked to speak to a mechanic to see if the fix for this will be covered under warranty but they said they can’t offer advice over the phone

In addition to Belle's suggestion, it could be the EGR which is choked up with burnt on carbon from the turbo oil.

Well this fault is definitely to do with the regeneration of the dpf. The mileage you are doing should happily cope with this so something is not right.
The first thing to check, believe it or not, is the oil level. This is because your engine uses excess diesel fuel to burn in the exhaust system, getting it stinking hot. However, a trade off of this is for diesel to run past the pistons ( yes, really) and into the sump, raising the oil level. Dealers usually change the oil as a matter of course with this issue.
Personally I’d speak to the service manager face to face and say the van isn’t fit for purpose right now, and you would like something done about it.
Hopefully your dealer is open!

If it's under warranty then it's a late vehicle so surely it would use the AdBlue system rather than extra diesel for a regen.

I've no idea, but if his adblue was running low, there would be a warning flashed up.
My Yeti (65) adblue
My Peugeot van (67) eolys
My Honda HRV (19) nothing.
John :)

I don’t think I’d ever get a vehicle that used add blue. Just seems a poor system to me and all you hear of is people having problems with them.

That rules out most of VAG stuff, I guess....I've had no problems but the engine gets no runs less than 15 miles.
I notice that motor factor vans (EuroCP) are back to petrol now - no idea what engine they are running but the Berlingo is popular.
I wonder why the Honda doesn't need any additives to get it clean - no one knew at the dealership where I bought it - they just said it was 'a good design'.
John :)

Some smaller independent garage may well stick the machine on it for considerably less or even free if your lucky. Vaux DPF are so I'm told very poor. My in-law used to deliver cars and had DPF fault on either a new or nearly new car, they told him to thrash it up the motorway until it went out.

I think they use both for Euro 6 engines. Land rovers and Ford transits that share the same engine are always diluting the oil and it’s causing major problems for owners of those vehicles.

One of the most crackpot methods I've ever come across......gawd knows what the dilute oil is doing to the crankshaft shells

Yeah just had a look the Adblue system is after the DPF for cleaner emissions so the DPF still has to regen. Thank god i got a Hybrid.
