What's your budget, is the dormer at the front original? Even without the dormer it's all out of proportion.
I know- the architect needs shooting. I need to upload some design app to help me as I really want to sort it out. To my mind it’s odd

No just a block bay Window screeded, maybe double height but sounds complicated?! I’ll be doing it, and I’m in trades, but not an expert at block workYou mean a double height bay , over the bedroom window too ? I was thinking leaving the existing as is and bricking up under it . The cladding of 1st floor would add horizontal lines to "widen" the face.
I see you remove the bow window bay and construct a square one in block and renderNo just a block bay Window screeded, maybe double height but sounds complicated?! I’ll be doing it, and I’m in trades, but not an expert at block work
Is the dormer original? What's your budget you can do a lot more with £20k than £2k. Diying or using builders? Prepared to go for planning approval or avoid? Sketchup would be my choice here.
It may be ugly but it's a tardisI’d say probably 5k obviously no labour just materials.
sketchup sounds good. I must give that a try!
Another thing I’ve thought about which others may inform me about- Legality of replacing the roof tiles on one side (the front). Seems likes a total waste of time and money to do it on both sides as the rear looks reasonable (I’ll include a picture here). But with a new styles Victorian aged front, those 70’s brown tiles just wouldn’t work![
That it is my friend. Huge space inside. Just needs prettying up.It may be ugly but it's a tardis
I would be surprised if that front elevation was designed by an architect. You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear by fiddling around here and there If you want to really improve the front of the house how about getting an architect to come up with a scheme for the redesign of the whole front of the house.

That’s the worst EVER PR for architects. - on the contrary,That’s the worst EVER PR for architects... yes I would need to draw on the skills of an architect, but my vision is far superior to anybody else’s FOR MY OWN HOUSE thanks very much, and architects are not superior beings in any way when it comes to design taste. I bet everybody on this forum has seen rubbish spewed out by supposedly’cool’ architects!!!! If you happen to be if the fraternity, may I suggest you go in a course to learn a bit about curtesy- the house has faults, yes, but your phrase about silk purse, is offensive and incorrect. Now go away and learn some manners

I said it doesn't look like it was designed by an architect !'Now go away and learn some manners' - kettle calling the pan !
' but my vision is far superior to anybody else’s FOR MY OWN HOUSE thanks very much' -modesty !
Why are you now so offended ? You said yourself to start with 'It’s basically a horrid 70’s job.'
ps I don't need to come on here to be insulted.
and I need to learn some mannersI re iterate, your pompous comment was the WORST PR for architects. Your snooty ‘doesn’t look like it was designed by an architect’ is arrogant. If your design creative is as bad as your writing, then god help anybody getting a pad designed by you! It would be one of those places I often see in London; soulless and without detail, somewhat like I imagine the interior of a loony bin is like.
You do seem to enjoy it though. Or why else would you post what you do?ps I don't need to come on here to be insulted.
and I need to learn some manners
ps I have repeated more of your disparaging comments on your own house in my earlier post
Might have known you would chip in. I was an architectural technician for most of my life but I am retired now. I post on here to try and give helpful advice usually .You do seem to enjoy it though. Or why else would you post what you do?
