Hello.
I have an old but utterly reliable back boiler, with a gas fire in front. Today, gas engineers turned off the gas in this block to do some repairs.

When they came to my house, they checked my appliances were safe to turn on. After they left, I noticed they'd dislodged the short white ignition wire at the front of the gas fire. It should be attached in 2 places.

I've previously seen someone reinsert it in about 10 seconds. It's not complicated...if you know where to plug it in. I don't. So I have no heat in the kitchen where I spend much of the day.

Can some kind soul who's used to dealing with antiques please help with this?

Thank you.

Call them back.
If they used the normal sparker to light the fire (to test it) then they must have dislodged it.
If you don't know what your doing with gas, then don't do it yourself.

Push socket of lead onto spade of electrode, but I can't remember if the bottom of the electrode is visible without a bit of dismantling.

Thanks, everyone. I managed to reconnect it after fiddling around for a while.

In case this is helpful to anyone else -

The wire is white, slender & short. It's attached to the front centre of the fire. The end which had come loose has a flat piece of metal at the tip & you have to find the hole it fits. This turned out to be near the button you push in, and turn, to switch the fire on.
