Machine washes and we presume it drains as the clothing is left soaking wet but not sitting in water. However the final spin isn't working. Also doesn't spin on Spin Only setting.

We have checked the drain filter at the front and it is clear and we can rotate the impeller by hand.

Thanks, as ever, in advance

Take it when you accessed the motor you had to you a drain pipe or flushed it out all over the floor. My guess is a blockage, this can be very small to gunge in the outlet pipe anywhere along it. Have you put your finger up the outlet pipe by the motor, I have found small objects there before, also Id take the grey waste out pipe completely off and flush it through, you might be shocked what can get stuck in there.
Also as above open and check the brushes, they are usually sprung loaded and easily visible once you get at it.

Thanks very much for the above replies. I'm just confused as if it was the brushes why would the drum revolve on the wash cycle but not on the spin. Speaking from ignorance here.

Because. the applied voltage is lower on a wash than a spin. So they are not loaded up as much & the contact between the ends of the brush & the commutator does not break down. Any the wiser now?o_O

Just as a 'wrap' for anyone looking back at this thread. We are just about up to changing the brushes ourselves but it would take us three times as long as a pro, so we got in an engineer who on investigation said that the brushes were fine. He checked the control panel with his meter and diagnosed that as the problem. He knew someone who could fix it but his advice, the machine being 15++ years old, was to get a new machine. No reason to doubt him as this was the option that paid him least. New machine it is.

Again thanks for the help, much appreciated.
