I’m off to see a 5 yo Citroen berlingo van tomorrow.

looks very good and is all I need. It has really low miles at 13500.

it was a lease van and has an mot in 3/18 with mileage of 11k then 3/19 with 12k and today it’s 13.5k

my question is, will these be genuine miles? It looks very clean from the photos but you can’t be fully sure.

the garage is a second hand dealership and independent. I don’t know much about them.

any tips on what I need to ask or look out for?

Well, the mileage seems consistent - perhaps it was just a spare company van. Just trust your instinct when looking - if you’re not sure about the van or the seller, walk away. There’ll be others.

At that sort of mileage the interior should be nigh on perfect....maybe its been used for local deliveries only?
Check the interior trim including things like pedal rubbers, door pulls and steering wheel etc for the 'polished' effect. In the back, it's likely to have been ply lined if it's been leased so check for misuse there, and evidence that its had a roof rack on.
You could ask the seller if you can see the V5 and that should tell you how many owners it's had etc.
At that mileage it should drive perfectly, and had it's yearly service so that should be traceable.

Yes checked the mot

it just that the clock can still be taken back I think

the rear floor is not ply lined but the walls are. The floor looks really good from the photos.

will check for wear and tear. So far it does sound all good but will see it this afternoon

I don't know if it can be checked on citroen, but on vag you can get a diagnostic for £40 which would reveal any clocking.

as BURNERMAN said, but also see if they have a service history and/or receipts, and what has been changed , Not a good indicator, but also have a look at the tyres wear, and if they all match make/model, any receipts for replacement tyres (maybe due to a puncture)

Talking about tyres; at that mileage, I would expect the rears to be original and have a lot of life left. The fronts might be near the end of their life or possibly been recently replaced, in which case they should be like new too.
The date stamps will tell you a lot.

Mot's can’t be altered retrospectively though. Of course, any mileage can be entered onto them at the time of test (or even 'unavailable') although highly unlikely.

Either that or it's clocked in preparation for each MoT so it's incremented only a few k each year. Worth it though???

I think matching tyres is a good point, as said above....even poking a finger through the wheel and feeling the discs for grooves could tell you something.

Ok i have been and bought it.

£6600 plus vat

The wheels are all the same so i think origional. The wheel and foot pedals look in really good condition. Everything seems fine with it.

I include some pics.

One service at 3.5k miles in 2016.
