LED to monitor motor

If it is purely a monitor facility thats required, a simple ammeter may suffice.

Yes you could get a simple plug in energy monitor type device that you connect it through at the supply end in the house, and after watching it for a while, you'll get a feel for what the normal current draw is, then if something snaps or changes in there you'll see a different current reading and know to investigate.

I'm assuming you mean that my guesses are rarely wrong, rather than, for once, an OP has returned....:)
Well, I don't know enough about your guesses to know whether the former is true, although it may well be - but, as you undoubtedly realised, the latter was actually my intended meaning :)

Kind Regards, John

Ericmark's solution looks interesting. Do I assume the Energenie communicates with the IFTTT app?

The treatment plant is connected to the main supply with a wired spur. Could I replace the spur unit with a 13amp socket and plug the water treatment unit in using the Energenie or would that not meet regulations?

I do have a power monitor unit supplied by my Electricity supplier; the main unit has a Velcro strip that wraps around the main supply cable by the meter and the connects by wifi to a remote monitoring unit. The unit only seems to work when wrapped around the main supply cable not around a 13amp cable. I don't know whether that's because of the diameter of the cable or the amount of current passing through it? Could I cut off the Velcro connector and connect the unit direct to the water pump supply?

Thanks for the dialogue.

main supply cable will be the Live without the Neutral. The magnetic flux from the current is what the sensor reads.

Where the cable has Live and Neutral the magnetic flux from the Neutral is opposite polarity to the magnetic flux from the Live,, they cancel each other out and the sensor sees no magnetic flux.

... remote sensing would require some sort of connection back to your house
How about a low power LED lamp that can be seen from the house ? Look out the window, if the lamp is on then the pump's running. You could add a timer so it stayed on during gaps if the pump doesn't run permanently (i.e. if it cycles).

I suppose that could work (even if it required binoculars and/or mirrors!). However, in this day and age I imagine that someone would probably suggest 'wireless' (or even a smartphone and an 'app') - since such things appear to be regarded as a panacea by many!

I use a Koi Airpump Alarm With Beacon for our sewage treatment plant without the beacon as I park next to it every night and can hear whether it is running or the alarm is sounding. The beacon would help if you can't hear it:
