I'm about to start fitting my new kitchen and am planning on venting the extractor outside.
Problem is the house is bulletproof ! It's a 1950's semi built from 'Newport Star' Engineering bricks. The electrician did offer to core a hole to fit the vent but now knowing the difficulties of penetrating these bricks he's declined! (It took all day to chase a few cables in the walls and the plumber snapped a 15mm SDS in the wall) Believe me, these bricks are unbelievable.

So any ideas for core drilling a large hole?

Alternatively I was thinking of chain drilling out a full brick and fitting a rectangular 'air brick' vent like THIS. Although as there's no flaps, was concerned about wind blowing back through the hood.

Any help appreciated !

Many thanks

Thanks both..

Would an airbrick vent without flaps cause me issues with wind blowing back into the ducting?

You can get an add-in backdraught shutter that fits into round ducting. The modern ones have a thin, flexible shutter like butterfly wings that is quieter than the old rigid flap.

I use Cowl Vents, which have a weather cover plus a single backdraught flap. I use them with round duct but I think there is a moulding to fit onto rectangular as well.

The problem with inline draught shutters is that they could get greased up from cooker fans, and so unless access is available for cleaning, should be avoided.
