Hi all,

Your help would be gratefully received. I have removed Porcelain wall tiles with a small SDS drill and tile chisel bit. I have this last wall to work on. It is a stud wall. How do I best start removing these tiles as I can’t angle the chisel bit without damaging the stud wall. Please see the picture. On the left is a wooden cupboard. I have started remove the grout from around 1 tile but it wouldn’t budge. Thought about hitting 1 tile with a hammer but didn’t want to damage the stud wall.

Thanks in advance

Mutley56, good evening.

Is your Stud Wall timber and Plasterboard? or? Lath and plaster?

I tend to replace the Plasterboard or lath and Plaster under such conditions, Why? because it is next to impossible to get a flat smooth surface when tiles are removed from such surfaces?

The cost of replacing Plasterboard is low, and as above avoids the headache of trying to smooth of and clean the surface of the plasterboard [or Lath and Plaster] to an acceptable flat surface for the new tiles.

Ken.

To add to the above, replace plasterboard with aquapanel.
Of course if part of wet area needs tanking.

Thanks for the replies. My problem at the moment is how to get started removing this final wall of tiles. How to get The chisel under an edge to start.
Any advice please?
Thanks

You could run a multi-tool horizontally across the grout line to cut through board behind then lever off, will bring wall with it.
