On the radio today apparently this virus does not survive on a copper surface

On about potentially copper coating door handles etc

I may make myself an Amazing Copper coloured dream coat to protect me...

The ability of Copper surfaces to kill viruses / bacteria / microbes has been known since the ancient egyptions, something to do with Copper Ions. (whatever they are)

It was widely thought as a big mistake when hospitals replaced copper door handles etc for stainless steel a few decades back, Germs can live quite happily on stainless for days, where on Copper the virus or whatever would be dead in under an hour. Stainless looks cleaner though, and its first impressions that count!

I’ve got plenty of copperslip grease in work but I’m not going back until September.

Is this a CC fetish topic that has spilled (spaffed) over into GD?

Thanks for the tip. I'm going to hold off weighing in my three buckets of scrap for a while.

In. Theory there could be a big demand for copper

So scrap prices may escalate

Best thing would be if trump gets wind of it and mentions it on twitter :)

So if I strip a load of t&e and then get the wife to knit me a suit Ill be fine...
Well, until it tarnishes :)

think it works just as well tarnished - this was the daft thing about hospitals, getting rid of the copper and brass door handles and push plates was to save the time cleaning them - they did't need cleaned unlike the stainless they replaced them with.

I believe silver has the same useful effect.

Time to dig out my copper bracelet that wards off the evil arthritis again.... :)
