What have you been doing today?

Had to go into town to pick a parcel up from PO.
Drove 1 mile along our road to fine it closed off for the next 3 days. Asked one of the workers, (he was at a safe distance inside the fencework they had erected), why there were no signs and he said there are, further back down the road. So, drives back past our house to take an alternative route. The first sign I went past was almost 2 miles past my house! No other signs between there and the site because there are no major roads along that stretch. Had to go across country which was an added 17 miles on the round trip, which under normal circumstances, would have only been a round trip of 16 miles!
The strange thing was, on my way back through the countryside, as I turned left and entered the road leading to where I live, there was a sign indicating to turn right to get to the place I had just come from. Anyone taking that route would have a massive extra mileage to their journey.

Today I’ve been replacing the roof on my shed. Bought some 9mm ply, roofing felt and adhesive. Didn’t bother waiting in line at B&Q - bought my wood from the local wood yard, cut to size, and the felt, adhesive and clouts from a local small DIY shop. Finished one side tonight and was getting in a right tarry state - the wife said have liked to chuck a bucket of feathers over me. Charming! Oh, and I was so busy I missed out on my regular afternoon nap so hopefully I’ll be sleeping like a baby tonight.

Yesterday I got some slabs delivered and stuck a few down after work. The ground is a bit more sloped than I thought so I’ve got a thicker mix under one end.

I’m not looking forward to a weekend of cutting curves.

Finished the roof on my shed today. A bit awkward as it was the other side and I could only get to it by climbing over the side I did yesterday. Felt adhesive all over my arms, shorts and shirt. I kept sliding back and boy, was that roof hot. When I finished that, I slung the old roof in the car plus loads of bags and buckets of rubble that I had in my garage from when I repaired my drive last year. I then went the dump and was in a queue for over 40 minutes. Got home, tidied up the garage and found I had less room in it than when I had it full of rubbish - how does that work?

Entered into an online quiz tonight that my mate sends me a link to. Over 130 players and I came.......4th although I did have a few lucky guesses. A vast improvement on last night - 63rd place.

Nice paving. What type is it? Did you buy the smaller ones, or cut larger slabs down yourself?
