Hi.

Having a 1.5m window installed in cavity wall in living room. Will be using 100x150 rc lintel x2.

Externally it will be rendered. Is a cavity tray a must? Weep holes would not be required.

Also I have 152x89x16kg rsj. Can I cut that and use it instead of lintel.

Cheers

It’s normally required by building control, even for rendered. But if they’re not involved, then yeah you could very well not bother and get away with it

How would it work if no weep holes?

It wouldn’t. The better bet is to do a proper cavity tray. But, if you didn’t, with the wall being rendered you may get away with it.
