Hello,

It’s time to decorate the living room. I have a textured ceiling (a stipples paint effect - I have no idea what the technical term is), which has some nasty cracks in it (from when the kids flooded the bathroom). I think I need to remove the dodgy bits, but haven’t got a clue as to how to repair the gaps that will be left. I know this is horribly vague, but I’m hoping someone might know what I’m talking about and be able to offer a suggestion.

Thanks

I agree that is not wallpaper.

Worryingly I think it is 'Artex' applied direct to plasterboard. The joins do not appear to have been finished properly. How old is the property? If it's pre 2000 then I recommend you read the words in the link. Because the finish is Stippled you may have to get a plasterer in replaster the ceiling at best, at worst it's replace the ceiling.

Others opinions may vary...

Sorry I’ve put the glasses on. Yes it’s artex done in stipple design. You can get artex repair kits any good diy stores this should do the trick. 2 coats of paint it’ll be like new.
