Hi all,

I need to run some armoured cable under a patio which I am laying. I will not be getting an electrician in for some time so I just need to know what cable to use?

I will not be wiring this in myself but I need it to be approx 25m worth which will be hard wired in.

Its a British General 13a 2gang socket IP66.

I have no idea about electrics, the socket will be used to power outdoor lights and projector

Thanks all

You need to talk to the electrician you will be getting in in some time. If this is a new circuit it is notifiable and you sparks will need to sign to say he designed and installed it.

It’s going under 6” of MOT1

6 inches, about one spade depth, the cable could even be damaged while the patio is being laid,

Small puncture in the outer sheath from a sharp edge in the MOT1 and moisture penetration could, over time, result in the armour rusting away.

Cables laid without ducting should be laid in sand or similar "soft" material

Do they? Says who?
Strictly speaking - no and no one.

However, for a double socket a minimum of 2.5mm² is correct.

Depending on where the supply connection is made and other possible concerns, then it might need 4mm².
