Well, well, well. Was The Donald right yet again.

For completeness, the study that caused a load of other trials to end early has been retracted.

The Lancet paper that halted global trials of hydroxychloroquine for Covid-19 because of fears of increased deaths has been retracted after a Guardian investigation found inconsistencies in the data.

The lead author, Prof Mandeep Mehra, from the Brigham and Women’s hospital in Boston, Massachusetts decided to ask the Lancet for the retraction because he could no longer vouch for the data’s accuracy.

In short: the source database they used seems to be unreliable.

That doesn't (pardon the pun) trump the efficacy of the drug when the only pro evidence is anecdotal

I agree, this is an excellent example of why, if Hydroxychloroquine works or not, what Trump did to push it without sufficient evidence, was reckless.

I quite liked Reagan, he had charm and charisma and he wasn't orange.

And now the big UK study has determined that it's a waste of time.

"We reviewed the data and concluded there is no evidence of a beneficial effect of hydroxychloroquine in patients hospitalised with COVID, and decided to stop enrolling patients to the hydroxychloroquine arm with immediate effect," said Martin Landray, an Oxford University professor who is co-leading the so-called RECOVERY trial.

And over 3,000,000 unemployed when people were either employed or not. Paid for via oil money and selling things off.

:) Forgot - things used to calculate the cost of living index changed to make it look lower.

Science Defies Politics. https://defyccc.com/covid-19-panel-gilead-ties/
"...At least 7 (seven) members of the Panel on COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines, including 2 out of 3 Co-Chairs, have not disclosed their financial ties to Gilead Sciences (GILD), the patent owner and manufacturer of remdesivir.

Under the direction of WHO, Remdesivir is being tested as an alternative treatment to COVID-19. Currently, COVID-19 is treated by hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) with or without azithromycin (AZ).

Nine members of the Panel tasked with determining acceptable COVID-19 treatments have disclosed financial ties to Gilead, the manufacturer of Remdesivir. However, at least 7 other members failed to disclose their financial ties to Gilead and a number of other panel members appear to have links to Gilead that require no disclosure. Together, Gilead-linked individuals made up a majority of this panel..."

I think WHO have reversed their position since the peer/pals review problem.

Lol...makes R Reagan Einstein intellect..

Yes, a real thicko who only got across a table from Gorbachev to bring about the end of the tyranny of the Soviet Union. Easy to snipe at someone who brought down the iron curtain if your benchmark for politicians is lying Johnson. Don't think you're a great judge of politicians' qualities.
