Black and Decker Workmate - Can you put a vice on it?

I need a Workbench but my shed is not that big so i was thinking of buying something like a Black and Decker Workmate. I also have a small vice that was on my old bench.

Can i use this on a B&D Workmate with say wing bolts to remove it as and when i need it?

Don`t see why not, just be careful the thing doesn`t tip up when using it.

my suggestion
get a bit off 3x2" or 63x38mm cls cut to length off the jaws and clamp in jaws
measure the size off the outside edge off the jaws width and length
cut 2 bits off 12mm ply or mdf to the full size and firmly glue together
screw and glue the 3x2" on the bottom then affix the vice to this
the timber will not only give you somthing to hold it in the workmate but give rigidity across the jaws

Yes but workmates tend to be lightweight and unstable.

Depending on what you need to clamp/cut/whatever, have you heard of Triton SuperJaws?

A sort of combination of a workmate and a vice together.

Another idea, have a vice that slides out the shed door, or a little hatch!

Workmates are cruddy now, unstable and easily bent.
Youll be lucky to support a vice on it. best come up with another solution.

Didn't that bloke drop a car engine on it in the advert back in the day?

I don't think you can even stand on the MDF jaws in today's models.

I have one of the old models, with ply jaws. It survived having a section of wall (about a dozen bricks) fall on it from a height of about 1 metre!
