About to Plaster First Ever Wall

Hi,

Would welcome any advice on this. I've stripped the wallpaper (its a small internal room) and have looked a few YouTube videos. I'm going to start with one small wall.

So the plan is to apply pva adhesive (1:5) to this wall and wait 24 hours or so.

Tomorrow, I'll get some plaster and mix in a bucket. That thing you attach on the end of your drill to mix looks nice but I understand is optional (?).

Have hawk, sponge float, trowel, water spray ready.

So my basic question is: The walls are in the pictures below - do I need to do anything else to them before applying the PVA. Also -

- Thought about filling the small holes with filler - but is this really required ?

- Do I need to do anything in particular regarding the lightswitch ?

I Pva watered down twice, I normally plaster when the second coat is tacky. I also use a marshalltown trowel for the first and second coat of plater and then an ox pro ultraflex finishing trowel for the finishing 3 buffing..... I think i got both trowels from screwfix and toolstation. They cost a few bob but well worth having..... the marshalltown is also pre worn in.

pva neat with a handful of sand in .
leave for 24 hours then skim.
add the powder to the water not the other way round , and yes a mixing paddle is vital.
you need two buckets one to mix in and one with fresh water to clean tools etc.
sponges are for washing the car by the way.
