Hi all,

So from a previous thread in UPVC, I’ve removed the main part of the floor of my cavity closer thinking it was part of the old upvc doors which I’ve replaced with aluminium bi folds.

Apart from being really annoyed with myself, I’m now lost as to what to do to resolve the issue. I usually research everything prior to doing the work and this just seem like part of the old upvc doors.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Chris

If you had a new piece, which you can buy easily at a merchants, you could have replaced it before fitting the new windows.

Rip it all out and fill it with screed and a fit bit of 25mm rigid board insulation against the door, prior to screeding. If you are intending to fit carpet right up to the door then taper the top of the insulation to a point or fix a wooden threshold batten to butt the carpet to.

Its all about those pesky gripper rods.

Thanks @noseall - really appreciate the advice. Can you recommend a board to buy which is rigid please and do I need to line with polythene first?

I will use a fein saw to remove the current close flush to the skirting.

Also part of the polystyrene is slightly damaged and cracked up to the current concrete flooring in two parts and doesn’t feel as sturdy as the rest. Will this be ok under the screed?

Sorry for all the questions.

Thanks,
Chris

@noseall - many thanks - advice followed, job done!
