Quick one folk,

Even with my programmer set to off for both zones and hot water, the boiler seems to fire up every so often to keep something warm. The freeze thermostat is turned right down and both actuators for the zones appear to open and close as requested by the programmer.

Any ideas why its staying on when the programmers set to off?

There is one more 2 port honeywell actuator situated in line before the 2 zone vales which I have never seen move, it was previously stuck into the manual setting and I had to move it back to the middle.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Cheers

How long does it fire for? Is the boiler permanently hot? I see from previous posts you have Nest controls, and have a dodgy actuator. May be worth calling in a techie to sort the lot out.

I haven't installed the nest yet, the actuator I was talking about had it's motor replaced and has been working fine since.

We just moved into a new house so are trying to get our head around how the system works. It fires on for around 5 minutes at a time, half an hour or so apart.

Yeah, it looks that way, just trying to see if I can resolve it before we have to call someone out (spent far too much this month already haha).

Cheers.

I am assuming this is not a combi. Looking at the single valve that was in manual position, do you know what switches this? Do you have multiple heating zones as well as a hot water cylinder?

It's not a combi, we have a hot water cylinder which is boosted by a solar water heating panel and then again by a solar iboost which heats using our surplus generation with an emersion.

Yeah we have 2 heating zones, upstairs and downstairs, I'm unsure what should control the first valve.

I'll ping some photos up in a second, cheers

It would appear that the first valve is a 2 port feed from the boiler to the water tank.

Does the boiler only fire up when the iboost is powering the immersion heater?

Sorry, I'm out.
With so many potential feeds from different sources, I think it is something that needs to be identified on site.

Thanks for the replies folk, turns out the 2 port valve for the hot water actuator had been mangled by the previous homeowner and they had damaged the switch inside causing it to always be on!
