As Andy said, the meter has disappeared. But the supply pipe and the pipe into the house are both there, so provided the supply is still live (which can easily be checked by removing the cap and opening the valve slightly) it shouldn't be too much trouble or expense to reinstate it. Presumably though there are no gas appliances, so these would need to be installed if you want to use it.
