Dip/strip/replace old door?

I’d leave any putty for a day or so and then go ahead with the Zinsser - its an excellent primer and seems to stick to anything. A genuine wood putty will be soft for quite a while so just bash on.

Well it was a can of worms and turned into a labour of love, but thrilled and proud of the result. Thanks everyone for your advice. Now for the outside!
