Hello

I am planning to carry out IR measurements on cables supplying an outbuilding. The outbuilding was wired about 15 years ago with some of the run buried. The run is 6mm three core armoured from house cu under concrete to cu in granny flat. From 20amp MCB in the granny flat cu, 6mm three core armoured (mostly buried under lawn) to small cu in outbuilding containing 63 amp single pole switch then 30mA rcd then 16amp mcb for sockets. My question is: Will measuring from the house cu be possible through all of these protective devices or am I better off doing the three legs (house to granny, granny to outbuilding , outbuilding cu to final socket) separately?

Not a good idea to test with Rcd connected , normally a CU would have a DP switch

You can do a global ir test to earth with all switches and devices closed and that would be fine. But for l-n you would need to remove any electronics including rcds and make sure any mcbs are closed.
