Curtain rail wall anchors keep breaking

I've fitted an IKEA curtain rail to the inside, top of the window alcove using drywall anchors (the plastic kind). This was what was recommended at my local hardware store but the wall anchors keep snapping, bending and then falling out of the drilled holes.

Slowly over time, the fittings are coming out of the ceiling causing the rail fittings to fall out and break. Am I doing something wrong in terms of fitting the wall anchors or is there another fitting I should be using?

The curtain and rail aren't heavy. The wall is drywall, particle board with insulation fitted behind it. The rail has to be mounted into the top surface of the alcove because the window frame runs right up to the alcove top. And the sides of the alcove are angled, so the rain can't be mounted there either. Also worth noting the window is very large (2400x1080mm) and the alcove top is approx 2800mm from the floor.

Try some different fittings. Grip it are good.

Fischer duo power or Rawlplug unos are very good those plastic toggles you have used are next to useless as you've found out

As the holes will be enlarged now, I would go with chris_w's suggestion

I also have a nightmare as dry wall gap. I went industrial square section plugs and used tons of filler. All else fails again I'll be using a timber batten and screwing it to that to take the load.

Why didn't you drill into the brick behind the plasterboard and fix into that?

Or the joists that the ceiling board is fixed to

Stand back and take some wider photos.

You can copy and paste pictures into your post. No need to use links to another site.

I'm understanding that there's nothing more solid behind the drywall?
Hollow wall anchors (Screwfix 12229) is what I researched and found as I have a similar situation. They need an additional setting tool, but they're working so far in my chipboard-lined house.
