Best material to fill screw holes in skirting?

Just layed down some new flooring and i did a proper job by whipping off the skirting

Having screwed the skirting, i have the screw holes to fill. But not sure what to use

I want to avoid using 2 part wood filler as it sets rock hard and it's a nightmare to sand back

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I'm not a chippie but fitted loads of skirtings. If you're planning on painting them 2 part isn't really necessary, just use a multi purpose filler like polyfilla or toupret, sanding is easy then.

I agree with Mr Sparkle. Standard Polyfilla, sanded down nice and smooth, prime, undercoat and 2 top coats.
Hopefully you will not need to remove the boards in the future because if you do it right you will never find the screw fixings. LOL

Yes, that's a possible way, trouble is I can't have any strong magnets in my house as my young stepson has a pacemaker. Not a good combination.

Wood.

Hammer a sliver of wood into the hole until it splinters, sand any bits level, then even off with Everbuild wood filler. It's not as hard to sand as the Ronseal. Something like a matchstick should work if you don't have anything else to hand.

Update

I had a little supply of polyfilla, so i used that

However when that ran out, i decided to experiment with some tile adhesive (slow set)

And I'm glad i did. So easy to mix, easy to work with and when it sets you can use a damp cloth to remove any excess and get that smooth finish

I highly recommend it

Next time you fit skirting try foam adhesive. No screw holes. Cue comments from "traditionalists"
