wondering what to do with covering the consumer unit and meter. The end of the back board goes quite some distance under window and is about 10 inches out from the alcove and chimney. In order for symmetrical set up we would need to do same on the other side which would mean a plug socket being moved and it feels a big bit of the room taken up. Seems a strange place to originally put it, any ideas what I can so

If that intake cable comes up through a concrete floor moving it will be a fairly major job, probably requiring digging and jointing outside = expensive.

About the best that can be done is to move the meter under the CU, then you can have a cupboard to the left of the window and maybe a low bench below the window to hide the intake. It's likely that a meter operator wouldn't do this officially as there's not much space.

Other obvious option is an external meter box

thanks for that, feels like a really silly place to put your main power source, under a window.

Seems like a very big expense to move less than 1m and whatever i do this side prob needs to be mirrored on the opposite
