Gas heater removal

Don't ring any bells Ian,,, Unigas?

The earlier Baxi’s had a sleeve through which the glue was pushed. It was to stop staining of wall decoration above the flue. But, certainly not on my jobs, they did not protrude through the outside skin of the wall. But if it did it, even flush, was flush, you could have been making sure regardless the flue was central.?

Where was the gap, exactly?

Hi T ,the gap i am talking about was the flue terminal, the gap between the end of the flue exhaust tube and the face of the terminal, think it was a manu TB or whatever they were called in those days, if the gap wasnt exactly 19mm they would have explosive ignition, must have been about 1985 ish, lots of the houses in Livingston had them fitted

Don’t recall hearing about that, TBH.

Sounds a bit weird though - if it wasn’t you but AssBlaster saying this, I would have suspected Meths is involved

The flues were telescopic with terminal fixed with no adjustment

Baxi?

Thinking about it,there WAS a terminal that pushed onto the flue. Was that the Baxi with the series of holes that you had to screw through at the correct length?

Never said it was a Baxi mate, these flues were concentric, but a lot smaller than the Baxi ones , I am guessing the flue was about 40mm Dia, with a weird shaped terminal, a sort of funnel shaped thing, if they had been bumped or usually was due to damage during installation, the terminal got distorted and caused the problems with them

Would that be a warm plan xx at that size Ian, fan flued, only wall heater can think of that small, some of the drugasars had a small flue like that but they were more of a commercial appliance than domestic
