Use silicone sealant instead of edging?

I'm going to put new laminate flooring down in my porch. Can I use silicone sealant instead of PVC edging? I'm not sure how easy it will be to stick the edging to brickwork and it will also be a bit fiddly attaching it to parts of the uPVC porch since there are some slight protrusions in the way.

Are there any alternatives?

If it should be edging, what do I use to stick it to brickwork and what is best for uPVC as well?

No cause the laminate needs an expansion gap or it will go wavy

You can stick edging using no more nails , sticks like sht , gripfill and the like

Are you planning to use moisture resistant laminate ?

I'm not a fan of using laminate in porches where wet things trasp over it all the time as the edges eventually swell and it looks crap

If you use vinyl for example , it's waterproof , doesn't require an expansion gap and you can seal the edges with silicone

I'm using the same laminate I've used for the house to match. I think it's moisture resistant since you can use it in the kitchen. I thought using silicone sealant would contract while the laminate expands but now realise that won't be so, therefore, edging it is. I've got No Nails so I'll give that a go. Thanks.

silicon can work as an expansion gap top finish as in low density foam of rolled paper lightly filled topped with silicon but never an easy job as silicon is best applied to firm stable surface so any over filling can "blob" in the expansion gap stopping expansion
