Hi all i just purchased a touch switch like this one:
https://www.electricaldirect.co.uk/...VAnXiFRjXEoNb2BfoO_Gg8XMJU5BkKUIaAt3GEALw_wcB
The instructions say I need to have an earth cable connected to the switch for it to work. Currently my old classic switch that i want to replace has got an earth cable but it is attached to the metal insert in the wall and not the switch itself. Can I take off the earth cable from the box and connect it to the touch switch without any consequences?

It does say NEUTRAL required. OP- just because 1 core in your switch is black (or blue) doesn't mean you have a neutral available, most lighting installs do not have neutral at the switch. Pics of existing switch wiring would be useful

Thanks for the input so far. This is a pic of the current switch

Someone might be lucky there. You'll need a multimeter to confirm but those 3 black cores in the terminal block are probably neutral.
