Hi all,

The door handle stopped turning the latch from one side, so I need to remove it to investigate.

There is a little notch on the face plate wherein assume you stick a screwdriver into to pop open, but I cannot get it off!

Any tips it suggestions?

Remove the handle first by undoing that allen screw.....make sure the allen key is the right size, occasionally they are made from plasticene
John :)

OK, I'd guess that the handle is stuck on to the square piece of metal bar that goes through the latch, connecting the handles together. This is called the 'follower bar'.
Try pulling the handle from the other side, applying some WD40 or whatever and it should come free.
Essential I think to shift those handles before you attack the escutcheons behind!

As above, unscrew the collar on either side to access the mounting screws. Possibly worth loosening those to see if it helps

Ok,s I've unscrewed the collars, and sprayed wd40 all over the place, but still no luck.

The collar on the inside handle actually doesn't meet anything, so I'm assuming the bar has travelled away from it. On the outside handle it screws against it.

I cant get the faceplates off as there are no screws on the outside. There is a small notch to get a screwdriver under but it just isn't budging!

We have these handles on all doors in the house and it's the same on all of them.

Doing my head in a a bit :)

My old office had a system where a plastic disc was screwed to the door, then the collar was twisted onto the plastic by about a quarter turn (?)
Then the handle went on

Ok so I went at the notch with a chisel and the whole bloody handle snapped off. I think the faceplate was rusted ontop of the fixing.

I will have to get a replacement handle set now, and will probably spray with lubricant before installing!

Thanks for your help!
