Does this washer below go on the inside or outside of cistern?

3.
Is it just the plastic washer undernesth the cistern that is tightened by the plastic screw cap?

Does the whole lot just then sit on top of the triangular rubber seal (pic number 1)

1. Yes, I suspect that is the 'Doughnut' washer, goes over tail of flush valve/securing nut, between cistern and pan.

2. Washer inside cistern.

3. I would guess so, then tighten nut.

Cheers all sorted

On another topic, this is the closer I can get my toilet to the wall....does this look rediculous or is it quite common?

Maybe the soil pipe coming out of the wall is too long and needs cutting back.

Looks ridiculous. You need to cut a bit off the soil pipe, looks like it's plastic so shouldn't be too much of an issue. (At least the soil pipe isn't coming out of a concrete floor!) Also looks like the original collar is on there which accepted a rubber seal, that will possibly be too big a diameter to allow the new pan connector to seal properly, so needs to come off anyway.

Remember, measure twice, cut once. ;)

I've managed to find a 60mm offset pan connector online. The main issue with the distance was because I had a flexi connector on there. With the toilet outlet deep in the toilet surround it should enable me to push it back to the wall, hoping the 60mm works. By measurement it should do!
