Hi. Can anyone advise me on how to block this single glazed door for the winter to keep heat in?

Think about if it gets too hot in the house ( as in "fire" ) you may need this door as an escape route

Yes, a curtain.

You can buy a "portiere rod" which looks like a brass or chrome curtain rod, but is designed so it swings open when you open the door and automatically lifts so it does not drag on the carpet. If it is in a kitchen, get a curtain in some easily-washable material. If it was some other room I'd recommend a heavy material fitted with curtain lining for better heat retention.

You can also get a plastic film that gives a temporary double glazing, it is stuck to the window frame to give an air gap. The panel at the bottom of the door could have a ply panel over, with insulation in the gap.

Also get a blind or curtain for that window.

Looks as if the window is fairly new and double glazed why not the door?

round sausagey draught excluder at the bottom

I have patio doors that open out in the next room for emergency. It is a thin single pane glass and wooden frame. I rent the house. If I owned it i would have put a pvc door there by now.

Fair enough,as has been suggested hang a curtain a big heavy one.

The door is not used so I was thinking along the lines of Polystyrene but not sure if that would make any difference. What do yous think?

polystyrene is very flammable, esp for a kitchen.

You can buy a second glazing thing, like cling film. I used that over my windows when I was renting years back and thick curtains. Have you asked your landlord if could have a new, better door? He/she may just surprise you :)

It's possible to hang a curtain on a door. Right sized hooks screw in hooks and a length of 1/2 dowel. The old way with a pocket in the curtain top and bottom might need a sewing machine to add the lower one.

This sort of thing or raid above the door which we don't use now.
