I have had the bricklayers in for the past 2 days and the blockwork is flying up but i have a query about the DPC. I know it is in there and at the correct level etc etc but i was expecting to see it popping out from the mortar joint.

Is that correct. I am now confused. If the block is 100m and the DPC is 100mm then maybe not.

Well that is what I am thinking. So should I just take a few mm from the joint to expose

NHBC and some other guides state that the DPC should have a "slight" projection - I'm not sure if a dimension is mentioned.

But generally, and historically, its kept back 5mm or so and pointed over and nothing comes of it.

Just had a look and it literally sits a few mm behind the pointing . Took a brush to a section and it appeared immediately.

It used to state 5mm each side, which is why you get 112.5 wide for a 102.5 brick.
