Forehead no contact infrared thermometer.

The fact that all of many things and parts of some are made in China is a fact of life. ;) Live with it and be glad they did provide the world with plenty of info.

If you are going to buy one I'd suggest a well known brand that produces home medical items such as the Omron 720 Gentle Temp. Might be hard to find though, It's a brand that a chemist might stock.

I fear you might be right. I’ve had two replies so far - one from Clinical lab products and another from Thermometers direct both saying the same. Bloody good ain’t it - a pandemic originates from their country and they seem to be the worldwide suppliers of medical supplies! Somethings Wong there. :cautious:

Its called globalisation and neo liberal economic policies which have dominated since the breakdown of the bretton woods agreement.

You cannot blame the Chinese alone for this when our Governments and Companies were partaking in offshoring.

It's a bit rich to turn around now and point fingers when you were happily voting for parties that were encouraging this behaviour.

FWIW we've got an in ear thermometer and an IR one. The IR one we got is so inconsistent (many different results in quick succession on the same person) it's never used as we have no confidence in it, the in ear one gets used if we need a thermometer.

If you're buying a no contact one, don't go cheap, I'd be looking for a medical grade one of such a thing exists.

It's an inconsistent place to even try to measure core temperature, the forehead. It can vary dramatically depending on ambient air temperature and activity, so it's unfair to blame the IR thermometers.

In this case I think it's fair as pulling the trigger 5 seconds apart shouldn't give much of a difference.

You can get "medical grade" one's, my suspicion is that the only difference is the price.

The inconsistency will be that of variations of temperature and radiance of area of skin you are pointing at. I find them fairly consistent, when checking large surfaces like house walls, within a fraction of a degree. I'm sat in my living room, which is at 19.8C, wearing slacks and a T shirt and using my IR thermometer, it shows my temperature as 34.2C to 34.7C.

Fair point, tell me though, what parties were not encouraging this behaviour so I’m ready when the next election comes around?

I was made redundant in 97 when production went east, then again in 01 for the same reason, AFAIK it was pure economics on the part of the companies

To be fair it was 97 before TB came to power, actually I got a new job on election day
