Hello and thank you for reading this message.

The inside handle of a multi point lock front door has gone limp. Before taking the lock apart, I was wondering if there is a common cause of this fault?

Some photos attached.

Thank you.

It's normally the handle itself.

Have you taken the handle off and looked inside?

Normally what happens is where the spindle inserts into the handle will have split and/or the spring has failed.

Grab yourself a screwdriver and pop that handle off

Dear sircerebus666,
Thank you for your reply.
The spindle appears to be in two parts joined in the middle with an axel, so that each half can turn independently. The spindle appears to be ok. On the outside of door side, that half of the spindle has a spring around it with a clip. On the inside of door side, there is no spring or clip.

Hhhmmm have you tried swapping the handles over to see what happens?

Forgot to ask can you withdraw the multipoint lock and engage it as well ,with the inside handle ?
