I am getting some asbestos insulation board removed in my flat but the company doing the work do not replace the board with a modern alternative.

The board is in two locations - under the electric hob and makes up one of the wall panels of the inside of a kitchen cupboard.

I was planning on getting a sheet of Supalux and fixing in place of the old board. How would I find out what level of fire resistance provided by the AIB as I will need to make sure that I match it?
Thanks

Asbestos insulation board. The piece of it in the cupboard backs onto a service riser I believe, hence why it is there in the first instance.
I can't say what it gives you as asbestos had long since stopped being used when I started in '81, but in most situations you would be looking at 1 hour

Thanks mate. I would have thought one hour as well. I would have thought whatever Supalux product I get, the performance surpass the old product but will get minimum 1 hour to be on the safe side.

Supalux is very expensive. Masterboard, or one of the MgO boards such as Eco/Econic board or more common Hardybacker board will do. 11 or 15mm should give 1 hour, and you may need intumescent sealant around the edge.
