I've just used some Hammerite hammered paint, and it's dried smooth not hammered. Yes I followed the instructions and have used it lots of times many years ago and it worked well then, but this one is crap. It's annoying as it took me ages to find some during the lock-down, and now I've finally come to use it .... crap.

Has the formula changed recently or could I have a mis-labelled tin?

If this is what it's like now, are their any better alternatives? What about the spray?

If it's the real stuff you'll see the flakes on opening the tin......no thinning and no overbrushing is the 'secret'.
Rustoleum products are maybe a little better, sprays available too. Personally I don't use the hammer finish any more as the finish is too inconsistent - Smoothrite aerosol for me now.

No it's not got the shiny bits in the tin. Comparing it with another colour I got at the same time, I'd say they put smooth paint in the wrong tin at the factory.
