I think we'll start with bungee cords and experiment with the lengths and if that doesn't work try the previous suggestion. (Cats are indoor so it's to keep them in while allowing enough fresh air!)

Poke the velcro/cord through a short pipe or ball so that a loop comes out the other side.
Fix the loop around one handle, pull closed on the tube/ball and fix the other end around theother handle

WHatever you do, make sure there is something jammed between the doors keeping them open as well. A sudden gust of wind once slammed my (unrestrained) door shut whilst the cat was sat nearby with his tail dangling over the threshold... Poor chap ended up with a broken tail requiring surgery.

Poor boy that's terrible, I will definitely be aware of this. Hope he fully recovered. One of ours likes to nose in the pull-out larder and we have to be careful to check before slamming it shut.
