Hi.

For a few summers we have noticed at times out radiators get hot. 2 summers ago the WB engineer changed the 3 way valve head, last summer he changed the complete 3 way valve, but still we are getting hot radiators, could this be a leak across the secondary heat exchanger?
The water pressure in the boiler remains stable. Is there something else it might be?

Simple way to check if the three way manifold is faulty is when the boiler is on heating your hot water in the cylinder is to feel the pipes around the manifold

The pipe going from the 3 way manifold to your rads should be warm at best and get cooler as you run your hand further away , if this pipe is hot the manifold has failed (or the head)

When was your system last given a clean?
 
Er this boiler is a combi...the diverter valve is inside and there's no cyclinder.

Ensure the heating is stone cold and then run the hot tap continuously...if the hot water performance is ok and the rads do heat up it's indicative of a faulty diverter.

Has a solution been found to the rads getting hot ? Ive had an ongoing problem with my Greenstar jr and the Worcester engineers for a couple of years . My rads were getting hot with the boiler set off and the boiler set on timed (off) . The Worcester people have visited 7 times without being able to correct the problem . They have basically changed everything that can can be changed but the problem persists . I have had to turn all my rads off . The water heating works fine .
 
We have just had our annual service and raised the issue again. The guy said he was a contractor brought in to help catch up because of COVID and can do no more than the service. He said it is probably a combination of the 3 way valve and the secondary heat exchanger. He said it is probably scaled up inside so the boiler is having to work harder to heat the water generating excess heat on the sealed side. He said that it gets rid of the excess heat by dumping it in the heating circuit. We seem to notice it more after a tap or the shower has been turned off. What he said does seem to make sense. He has reported the issue to WB.
 
All the engineers (box ticking service monkeys ) that I have had round have said ''its probably this or its probably that'' Changed a few parts ,diverter valve was one of them the board twice and reset . Seems to be OK for a couple of months until the rads come on again without prompting . This makes me think its not an actual problem with the working parts of the boiler but a problem with the wiring of it .

Well I would hope they would know better than offer advice . I use the term because the fact of the matter is on my 5th maybe 6th time I called WB I was told due to the number of call outs they would be and I quote ''elevating my case to a senior engineer'' . Which would indicate to me that the previous 'engineers' were indeed 'tick box monkey's '

Im sorry if your offended by that , but then thats your problem ,mines a dodgy boiler .

Its not a control issue . The first thing they questioned was the Salux so I removed it (well the guy that installed it did ) and the problem still persisted with no controls. The WB people still said it could be the problem (it obviously wasn't ) but non the less I got my guy to fit a Honeywell wall stat . The problem continues .

well it wasnt a salux, it was Salus,if you want help stop being an ass and answer what you have been asked, we are happy to help but not if you cant provide basic information

He was already being an ass by calling engineers "box ticking service monkeys" when he admits he doesn't have a clue.....

Ive answered your question you pedantic no nothing **** .It wasn't the controls . Who gives a feck what the bloody thing is called you seemed to understand what I meant . You obviously are not qualified so don't reply again . Thank you .
